If your landlord or the company who owns your apartment is less supportive especially in maintenance and repairs, it’s time to make the decision to find better landlord or a company.

Far from where you work?

When you have to travel for long to get to work you’ll be really tired at the end of the day where you won’t have any time for you and your family. Are you living in an apartment? Then of course you are having the extras and benefits of the maintenance service. But what if it takes too much time for the maintenance team to arrive and you need to fix something immediately, then you need to act at the point. Therefore here are some DIY maintenance tips to follow to make your immediate maintenance issues no more suffering.

Plumbing

Most of the times you’ll get your kitchen sink or your garbage disposal clogged due to the oils and solids that are put down by you. Therefore the best thing is to avoid them getting into your sink or garbage disposal. And if they are clogged then you need to act. Always keep right tools and have a good understanding about the tools you have. Just as you need to have a clear understanding about what sink plunger does and why can’t you the use toilet plunger instead? If you don’t, you’ll be ended up with a bigger mess than you had before.

HVAC Upkeep

Most of the apartments are changing the air filters annually but if that doesn’t make your apartment count that means your apartments filters are most probably dirty. Therefore you need to keep up with the maintenance team and check whether your airflow is happening well. You can vacuum air vents and make sure that there is no dust built up. You can do it yearly but make sure you check up periodically.

Preventive Measures

Best way to avoid having maintenance issues is to prevent them before they occur at the first place. When the winter is coming you can make the arrangements to keep the pipes heat throughout the day so then they won’t get freeze and break. And yes about your floor you need to clean them frequently with the appropriate cleaning products and that will avoid your carpet getting dusted and dirtied. It’s better if you can go for natural cleaning solutions too.

Know when to call the professionals

You should know that you can’t fix all the maintenance problems and that’s why there are maintenance professionals. It is better to let them do their job when it comes to some sort of serious issues. Even from the agreements sometimes you are bound to report directly to maintenance team about any broken, apartment owned appliances ( They may be electrical issues likewise). And any other matter that is out of your control such as plunging problems or problems regarding turning off water should be reported immediately to the maintenance team in order to avoid any serious damages that can cause due to negligence. Apartment Lighting Problems, Solved

When choosing for apartment the main things you may consider into account is the space, location, layout, amenities and so on. But when you move into your new apartment you may realize that the lighting available is not up to your mark. This may be a small problem for some people but as for my opinion lighting plays a major role in making your apartment and its furniture a great outlook. So if your apartment has lighting read the below point which I guarantee will give your apartment more light than before which make your living space more beautiful and attractive.

First point is the situation where your apartment does not receive natural light. The remedy I would recommend to follow is to paint the room in a lighter shade you could do so if your landlord permits. You could also hang a mirror opposite the windows which would bring light and will give room a bigger look. And also try not really focus on hanging wall hangers which gives a darker outcome.

Another problem you may realize is the room lighting is too plain. The things you could do to solve this issue is to install small lights around the room. And give lighting to corners of the room which gives a bigger picture to your mind. And also you may use pretty lamps which you could keep on the tables and on the floor.

You might now think with all these lighting solutions it will cost you big raise in your electricity bill value. The remedy to solve this issue is to use a dimmer in your lighting system where you would have the ability to control the lighting to your choice so that the usage of the electricity could be minimized.

Apartment Decorating on a Budget

Seasons change. So what about your apartments? They too need a new look. In the falls, it is better looking if you could change the look of your apartment to something which is tranquil and warm than what you had during the summer. You can follow these 5 easy and less costly steps to give a good look to your apartment.

1. Decorate in your own way

You don’t always need to purchase decorations of high cost. You can go for easy ways to decorate and add some familiarity to the spaces of your apartment. Craft some new pieces and bring the personalized nature with aesthetic sense which will make you feel like you are living in a brand new apartment.

2. Rearrange the furniture

You can change the settings of your apartments by rearranging your furniture. But what if your apartment is small in size like a studio apartment? Of course it will be not practical to change the setting in the big scale. But you can always rearrange the accessories of your apartment like lamps, wall paintings and small tables and it will definitely give a renewed look to your place.

3. Plant your place

You might not enjoy planting but if you keep some plants in your free spaces it will refresh the surrounding and add some cooler colour to your place. You can always go for plants like snake plant and fiddle leaf fig tree which are easy to maintain yet refreshing.

4. Add new furniture

If you are okay with spending a little bit you can rent new furniture for your apartment in order to add more glamour in the seasons change. Renting furniture is cost effective than buying new furniture as it will enhance the look of your old apartment temporarily.

5. Reduce accessories

You need to focus on the key items of the apartment then you’ll find it more comfortable and spacious. Therefore you have to get rid of the trendy unnecessary decorations of your apartment. Then you can set your apartment removing the items which are less charmed and keep the most favorite items in the best suited order.

Create a study space in your Apartment

As you move into an apartment if your child is going to school or planning to start schooling you need to prepare separate area for your child to his/her own studies. This is very essential for a child to give their own space of studying so because of that they can concentrate well on their studies. So below I’ll be discussing few points you can consider when preparing your child study area.

Firstly you need to select an area to be your child’s study area this should be permanent area without having to be changed from time to time. You don’t need to have big area to make this study area for your child. Look around your apartment and see any place where you don’t take much use of and turn into a perfectly designed study area.

And another important fat to consider when choosing the place it would be very ideal if the study areas is located in a silent place then the child won’t be distracted by any kind of noise while they study for their exams or when doing their school home work. Especially remember to not have the study close by to a television or any other electronically device so the child won’t be tempted to have sneak peak at it. And also select area which has good ventilation or make arrangements to keep a fan then your child won’t be feeling hot and be distracted by their studies.

Secondly after choosing perfect place for your child’s study area you need to either buy or use the furniture at the apartment if it’s available. You need to prepare table considering your child’s height and a comfortable chair. And apply different color paint to that area so it will be notified as a significant or a separate place in the apartment. And make sure if your child is small you can hang the multiplication table, alphabet or any other related charts so it would bring a interest in the child to study and do their daily school work.

After preparing the study area make sure to keep all the stationary items such as pens, pencils, ruler, eraser, scissor, glue, stick notes etc. so there won’t be a chance for your child to get up and walk around the apartment to search for a pen or a pencil or any other stationary item. So it will save your child time which can be used for productive studying.

So after preparing everything you will have the ability to see that your child will be more interested in doing their studies since there is a separate place allocated to them in their apartment. And help your child to maintain a study schedule so that they can divide their time accordingly for each respective subject.

How to deal with bad neighbours in your Apartment

Having conflicts among people is common problem when you are associating with people in your day to day life. But is it best to solve these conflicts before they go out of your control. Especially when you have small misunderstandings with your neighbors you have to try and solve these misunderstanding because it is huge disadvantage to you if you continue to have bad relationship with your fellow neighbor in your apartment complex. Below I’ll be discussing some ways you can resolve your misunderstanding with your neighbors.

The utmost important fact is to ignore a misunderstanding is not to create a situation where there can be a misunderstanding created.  If you think a problem will be created try your level best to simply solve the problem without making it a huge issue. If you make a mistake don’t be ashamed to apologize to your neighbor.  And make sure you invite your neighbors for any small gatherings you have by saying that I don’t mean for you’ll to invite your neighbor for every function you have in your apartment. But at least invite them occasionally so they will have the idea in their mind that you care about them.

Secondly if we take a situation where you actually have a problem with your neighbor then it is better to always go to them and directly ask them what the problem is what you did wrong or what created a misunderstanding between you and your neighbor. Because there is always a reason behind any conflict. So it is always better to what this reason and to solve the problem at that particular moment itself.

After discussing with your neighbor even if you cannot solve the conflict it is advisable for you to go and talk to your landlord about it. May be your landlord may know what type of person is your neighbor since he has been associating with your neighbor long enough than you. Then your landlord may have his own ideas to solve this conflict which has occurred between you and your neighbor in the apartment complex.

Some conflicts may be reaching to a point where at least your landlord cannot solve. So in a situation like that it is always better to receive legal help from a person who is specialized in that particular area so you can get the best solution for the problem at hand.

How to successfully move into a new home

Moving to a new place? Yes it is a big change which will happen to your family because everything around you will be a whole new environment. So there are things you need to prepare yourself for before moving into this big change in your family so that you will not face any difficulties in the process. Below I’ll be discussing the points you need to consider when you’re planning to move to a new apartment.

At first you need to sit down and have a leisure talk with your family about moving to a whole new area. Especially you need to consider how your children’s might be feeling because they might be upset because they won’t be able to meet with their friends as usual. But you need to make them understand that you will get new friends and you will have the opportunity to meet with your old friends and talk to them occasionally on the phone.

Next factor is since you’re not really familiar with the area you’re going to moving into it is advisable to draw up a map and have all the important places you need to go such as the supermarket, pharmacy, hospital, school, bank etc. because you need to know what is available close to the place where you are going to move in. because emergencies don’t occur while giving you heads up that it is happening so it is always better to be prepared.

You have to pack your items according to the importance of how much you need it. As a example you need to at least have your change of clothes, toiletries, food within the vehicle your family will be travelling because as soon as you move in you cannot be spending your time searching for all what is essential in the packed boxes. And remember to name all the boxes of what it contains. By doing so, you can save the time of opening each box to find one particular item.

On the big day of moving make sure drive in the road at less busy hour. Because you’re new to the area it may be difficult for you to find the roads because of the heavy traffic which will be tiring to you as well as your children. But when the road does not have much traffic it will be easy for you to admire the surrounding and note down the important facility providers which will be useful for you. And the other point is making sure you check the weather condition before you move. If it’s a sunny day it won’t be a disturbance to your moving. But supposing it is rainy day it will delay your moving because it may difficult to load and unload the items from your moving truck.
